Last summer, some RVers reported that finding a space in some popular RV parks was a nightmare. The summer of 2010 may prove to be even harder, according to a report in the industry magazine, Campground and RV Park eNews. While directly commenting on the good occupancy rates reported by snowbird destinations at this time, the magazine added what might be a frightening comment for those looking for spots for summertime:
“Parks from the Northeast to the Pacific Northwest are already receiving advance reservations for Memorial Day and Fourth of July holiday weekends,” noted the December 16 issue. Quoting the chairman of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, David Berg, the publication looked forward, saying, “I think we’re looking across the country to an improved camping season next year.”
Where the commercial RV parks go, so often go publicly operated campgrounds. In Washington State, at the popular Pacific Beach State Park, over 80% of the sites are already listed as booked for the July 4th holiday weekend. This summer may be the season of, “He who hesitates is lost.”
